Deteriorated?! I honestly think he looks much better now! Goodness, the amount of time I spend squeeing over this man is just embarrassing now.

To be honest, I actually have yet to finish my last challenge, which was a Hetalia one, but about halfway through, I found that I could no longer stand Hetalia, so I had no motivation to continue. Hence, a new challenge!
And because I have to go and sleep now, I’ll start tomorrow.

I am extremely disappointed in Sanji. He’s supposed to be my favourite One Piece character, which is why I feel the disappointment all the more keenly. If someone like, say Nami or Usopp did something disappointing, I wouldn’t feel it as much but with Sanji, I actually felt my heart sink. And all the more so, since I feel he’s been on the downward trend since the timeskip. I actually thought things were looking up recently, and then he does this.
I guess it completely changed my perspective of him. While yes, I did think he was a girl crazy idiot, he did have his great moments too. I actually thought he was a gentleman; that he wouldn’t do something to a woman without her consent. What he did was pretty much akin to molesting, and I bet it was without Nami’s approval. Though yeah, Nami was pretty much asking for it for dressing like a slut all the time, but still, that’s beside the point. The point was that Sanji disappointed me deeply for doing something that I didn’t think he would do.
And this sinking feeling as been there since the timeskip. The whole of the Fishman arc, he had been pretty much making a fool out of himself thanks to his perverted nosebleeds. I actually thought things were looking up in this arc because he was displaying some of the traits that made him my favourite in the first place, but after this, I’m not so sure now.
And yet, out of the Straw Hat crew, I still like Sanji the most. I still think he’s the most attractive One Piece character, especially with the moustashe and beard after the timeskip, and I like how he’s the unofficial tactician of the Straw Hats, and how his forward thinking saves the Straw Hats in every arc. But now, his pervertedness is getting out of hand. I’m still reluctant to chose someone else as my favourite character.
Bah, I think I just need a break from One Piece.
I know I’m probably overeacting with this but to be honest, the moment I read this comment, I saw red. Yes, it’s perfectly fine to have a bias, and Minwoo makes a great bias, but just because Minwoo’s your bias doesn’t mean you have to degrade Junjin like that. Especially since they’re both in the same band! I’ve had enough of seeing this within the Sones fandom, and seeing this in the Shinhwa Changjo fandom just… honestly, I expected better.
Especially since I bet I’m one of those rare Shinhwa Changjos that actually has Junjin as my bias. I’ve read comments on how the ShinChangs are fond of Junjin, but he’s rarely anyone’s bias because the other members tend to overshadow him. If it weren’t for Junjin, to be honest, I wouldn’t even be a Shinhwa Changjo in the first place because it was thanks to him and his antics on reality shows (especially Infinity Challenge) that I got to know about Shinhwa. And he’s still my bias because I love his personality, and he’s extremely good looking to boot, and his voice is beautiful. Oh, and he dances too, but yeah, that’s where Minwoo tends to overshadow him.
I guess it’s a good thing that I completely forgot my Livejournal log-in information, because I would have completely lamblasted that poster. At least, after cooling down and thinking about it, I can post a more thoughtful and calm response to this.

Today, we went to watch “Jane Eyre” at the Lido cinema complex at Shaw Tower. It was actually my mother’s idea, seeing that my parents and I were familiar with the book, having read it at least once (though I think it was quite some time ago for all of us). We also managed to convince my brother to watch it with us by telling him that it was rather dark and scary.
Dark and scary it was, all right, or at least, at certain parts. And to be honest… I actually had quite a shock at the beginning of the film, and at some of the other parts, I actually ended up using my iPad to cover my eyes at the more…ominous parts, as the popcorn bucket was useless. I swear, this movie was pretty much a roller coster ride, scary at times, yet heart-rendingly touching at times that I actually cried.
The scenery was extremely beautiful, and so was the music. The book and movie was set in Yorkshire countryside, and and there were a lot of dark greens and browns in the landscape, along with some rocks and tall cliffs. It was pretty much scenery porn for the eyes. And as for the music, it was simply a piano theme, but it was oh so haunting.
I admit, I actually didn’t finish the book, I read through three quarters of it, and even then, it was so long ago, back when I was a child. I remember practically memorizing the boarding school sections. I read through the Rochester sections once as well as the ending, but I wasn’t too familiar with Rivers family section so I cannot really comment on those. But I admit that I was rather disappointed that the movie didn’t really cover as much as the boarding school sections as I would have liked it to. Plus, I really disagreed with the potrayal of St John Rivers. In the books, he was actually a nice man, if a bit religious and duty-bound. He actually died as a missionary in India, so he couldn’t be all that bad as a person. Yet, in the movie, he seemed a little too hot-tempered and passionate to my liking. The thing about him was that in actual fact, he wasn’t in love with Jane unlike what the movie seemed to portray, he simply wanted to marry her because he thought she would make a good missionary’s wife. And, he was soft-spoken too, he wouldn’t have yelled like he did in the movie.
And who was this Ingrid? I don’t remember seeing her mentioned in the books?
I never really completed the book, even though I told myself that one day, I would finish it. Now that I have the ebook (my brother borrowed the paperback version after liking the movie so much), I really ought to do so, so I can compare the movie with the book in greater detail. I wouldn’t really be able to do so now, as the book is rather misty when I do recall it.
But the movie was extremely enjoyable though. I’m really glad I went.
Well, I must say, this ebooks thing is one of the best things that I’ve come across! Lately, I haven’t really been blogging as much as I should, mainly because I’ve spent too much time using my iPad as a ebook reader. And, it’s really amzing how many books I can get for free just by going to book sites that feature downloadable public domain books such as Feedbooks or Manybooks.net (my personal favorites). I now feel pretty stupid for paying for the paperback books that I could have gotten for free online. But if it was any consolation, I don’t think e-reading was a popular trend back then. In fact, it was only this year that I actually thought of it.
It’s not just public domain books though. There are some sites that offer recent publications, such as ebooks.com, though of course, I do have to pay for them, since I don’t really like the idea of optaining books illegally. In fact, I was even able to find books that I couldn’t find in print in any of my local bookstores! Like Ghosts of Ascalon for example, the moment I found it I just had to buy it because was looking for it when it came out and until recently, I wasn’t able to find it.
But what really excites me though, is the idea of indie books. Most recently, I’ve downloaded some books off Smashwords (I did pay for one though, the rest I got for free because they didn’t charge for them), and they seem to be cheaper than those published by the more renown publishing houses. Plus, the subject matter is much more varied, I was even able to find a few BDSM books that I definitely won’t be able to find anywhere else. I think I’ve pretty much found a good place to hang out over the Internet.
So yep, this is my entire history of e-reading. And of course, I have my iPad to thank. It’s been really incredible how much stuff I could find, both free and payed. And don’t get me started on e-magazines too!
1of2:
Seriously, this! In fact, the mispotrayal of Poland was what made me realize that Hetalia was shit. And I’m not even Polish to begin with! (I’m actually Chinese, haha) It’s just that I have a huge interest in Polish, Czech and Slovakia history, which originated back when I was studying History in secondary school. The characterization for Poland is so off the mark that I don’t even know where to start! It just makes me want to shove my history textbook down the mangaka’s throat. And this isn’t even the biggest problem I have with Hetalia! I don’t even want to go into it now because it’ll just turn me into a raging hulk. But one of these days, I’m really going to write a post about it, when I can actually put my points into coherent paragraphs instead of a massive, rage fueled rant. Sad to say, I actually was a Hetalia fan before I was enlightened to Hetalia’s failing points. And I’m even halfway through the Hetalia challenge which I really want to discontinue because I don’t have the heart to write anything Hetalia related. I’m just glad my country does not have a Hetalia representative because I’m afraid of all the inaccuracies that may come out. This honestly makes me really glad that my country is not mentioned in Hetalia, becauseREAD THIS ONLY IF YOU WANT TO OBSERVE MY INSIGHT ON THE CHARACTERS IN HETAILIA AND THE REAL-LIFE EVENTS THAT DISPROVE SOME OF THE CHARACTER’S PORTRAYALS IN THE SERIES (mainly Poland in this case).

19. Character you’d like to go karaoke with
China, for the second time in a row.
Mainly because I love his voice, it just suits him so much, while at the same time, giving him a youthful and active air even though he’s probably the oldest Hetalia character. Hilarious that both his VAs are women though, and he even looks like one.
I really love his character songs too, both Nihao Chukogu, and Aiyah, 4000 years. I love both songs, Nihao Chugoku reminds me of Chinese New Year; he sounds so cheerful in it, while the latter reminds me of those epic martial arts movies. Only problem is, I Aiyah, 4000 years was kind of spoilt for me because it was mainly about Japan, whom I honestly dislike (as a character, I have nothing against the country itself, and actually grieved during the tri-fold disaster). But I do love the mandarin version though, so that kind of redeemed it in my eyes, especially since it’s actually China’s native language.
I guess it would probably be easier for me if I chose an English-speaking character, but the thing is, it’s my Chinese that needs to be improved, and I would learn a whole lot more if I had China as a karaoke partner, because it would certainly help with my Chinese language skills. That, and I’d get to be introduced to all those traditional Chinese songs as well.
Oh, and did I mention that I love his voice to bits too?
18) Character you wouldn’t mind having as a parent
Who else but the ultimate mother hen/elder brother in Hetalia?
This is actually one of the main reasons why he’s my favourite character. I love how fatherly he is, seeing how he has raised 4 younger siblings, and has taken such good care of them. I particularly love the warm family pictures drawn of the Asian family, and seeing China being so fatherly towards them just warms my heart. In a way, when children grow up, they have to leave their nest in order to fly on, but I bet I’ll probably be a better child than some of his siblings, seeing that I’ll actually visit him and appreciate what he has done for me and so on.
At the same time, sad to say, I actually see a better father figure in this guy compared to my own father in real life. My father has always been a sore point with me, mainly because I have no idea how he feels towards me, or how I feel towards him, and I’ve pretty much given up trying to make him proud of me because I know for some reason I’ll never be able to fulfill his expectations of me.
If I had China for a father figure, at least I would have someone to talk to, something that I can’t do with my own father. I would feel cared for, and it’ll probably be such a joy to return home, seeing how China always reacts whenever he sees any of his siblings (with the possible exception of South Korea, but I have a feeling that Korea may actually end up being China’s favourite out of all his siblings). It’ll be such a warm atmosphere that sometimes, I even end up tearing up at some of the Asian family pictures.
Seeing that I’m interested in Ancient Chinese history, this guy will be a whole fountain of knowledge. And maybe my Chinese wouldn’t be so horrible.

17) Your OTP
To be honest, I don’t have an OTP for Hetalia. In fact, there isn’t a single pairing in Hetalia that I’m extremely passionate about. I only have a couple of pairings that I show moderate passion for, and out of those pairings, this one is the one I’m most interested in. It’s Turkey/Poland, and it would probably be surprisingly to a lot of people to know that this pairing actually isn’t crack at all. Unfortunately, it did sadden me when I checked the fanfiction.net section and found only one story about this pairing, and it was considered crack fiction. This will be rectified as soon as possible, probably by me, when I get started on writing again.
As for why I like this pairing, it’s because during the second partition of Poland, Turkey was the only country that refused to acknowledge the partition, continuing to refer to Poland as a country much to the rage of Russia, Prussia and Austria. And this was even though the Ottoman Empire and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth had previously been enemies. And also, it’s probably because since not many people know about this pairing, it has yet to be done to death like the more famous pairings which I refuse to name here.
And Turkey even has his own name for Poland; Lehistan. In fact, in my head-canon, I even imagine that Turkey refers to Poland by that name during their private moments.
